The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority is an entity of the Mohegan Tribe of Indians of Connecticut. Pocono Downs was Pennsylvania’s first casino and celebrates the beauty and natural resources of northeastern Pennsylvania. McPhee Electric, Ltd. performed Phase I and Phase II electrical construction at Pocono Downs.
During Phase I, McPhee Electric provided all electrical work for this project that expanded the race-track to a leading casino in Pennsylvania with two floors housing slot machines, a food court, bar, and patio. An additional third floor was constructed for office space use.
At the Racetrack Grandstand, McPhee installed light fixtures, switches & branch, motor equipment connections, tele/data conduit, security systems, CCTV conduit, and site lighting. The Clubhouse work included high voltage distribution equipment, 600V distribution equipment, high voltage feeders, light fixtures, fire alarm, central plant duct banks, power devices, motor equipment connections, and a 4160V feed.
The Phase II renovation included an additional 55,000 square feet of new gaming space that contains 2,500 slot and electronic virtual game tables and expanded dining options. The project required installation of low voltage systems including security, surveillance, data, telephone, POS, slot monitoring, fire alarm, audio visual, sound, and CCVT. Other electrical work included installation of 3,000+ lighting fixtures, UPS systems, POS, IT, and special effect lighting. The Phase II project also included an expansion of the facility’s backup power, which allowed the entire building to be operated on generator power. Additionally, two 12kV feeders distributed through six double-ended substations with 5000kw of paralleled on-site emergency power generation were installed.
